Missouri Food Bank Association Changes Name to Feeding Missouri

New Name Projects Mission of the Organization

Columbia, MO, September 16, 2014– The organization representing Missouri’s food banks is changing its name to Feeding Missouri.  Formerly the Missouri Food Bank Association, Feeding Missouri will enhance the group’s role as the statewide voice for hunger.

Feeding Missouri’s members include Ozarks Food Harvest (Springfield), Harvesters – The Community Food Network (Kansas City), Second Harvest Community Food Bank (St. Joseph), The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri (Columbia), St. Louis Area Foodbank (St. Louis), and Southeast Missouri Food Bank (Sikeston).  Together with 1,500 agencies, Missouri’s food banks distribute over 115 million pounds of food each year.

“This name change better projects the mission of what our organization is doing,” said Scott Baker, the State Director for Feeding Missouri.  “Our food banks are feeding Missourians every day, and until the need is gone, we will continue to work together to strengthen our state. We hope it helps bring attention to the issue and additional partners to the fight against hunger. ”

Feeding Missouri is a Partner State Association of Feeding America.
