Feeding Missouri has received a $60,000 donation from State Farm for the six regional food banks to provide nourishment for families facing hunger.
Columbia, MO – As part of their ongoing commitment to improve their communities, State Farm has partnered with Feeding Missouri and their six regional food banks to help fight hunger. On Thursday, September 28th, representatives of State Farm volunteered at The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and officially announced a donation to benefit the six regional food banks.
“State Farm is dedicated to fighting food insecurities and serving our neighbors in need,” stated Ryan Kenney, Agency Sales Leader for State Farm. “We are honored to be able to award Feeding Missouri $60,000, which will serve every county in Missouri and help feed our neighbors.”
“This commitment to ensuring our individuals facing hunger have access to nutritious foods comes at a critical time,” says Heather Hargrove, Executive Director of Feeding Missouri. “Food banks are still seeing 30% more families seeking assistance than before the pandemic and they’re preparing to enter into the busier holiday season with fewer retail donations and inflated food prices.”
Each of the six food banks— Harvesters Community Food Network, Ozarks Food Harvest, St. Louis Area Foodbank, Southeast Missouri Food Bank and The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri—will receive $10,000 to purchase food in the upcoming months. “With this donation, Feeding Missouri’s food banks can provide over 240,000 meals to neighbors in Missouri who struggle to find food,” noted Kenney.
Partnerships like these are paramount and make it possible for food banks to be there for families facing uncertain times. We are so thankful that State Farm is using “Good Neighbor Day” to play a role in strengthening their communities across the state.
