JEFFERSON CITY, MO. — Feeding Missouri recently announced the selection of Hannah Wichern as its new director of communications and outreach, strengthening the organization’s efforts to raise awareness of hunger issues, engage stakeholders and support statewide advocacy and outreach initiatives.
Wichern will lead Feeding Missouri’s communications and outreach efforts, working closely with Missouri’s six regional Feeding America food banks to strengthen awareness of hunger-related issues and the collaborative efforts underway to address them.
“As Feeding Missouri continues its work across Missouri, strategic communication remains essential to advancing our mission and engaging partners,” said Leigh Anne Haun, executive director of Feeding Missouri. “Hannah’s experience in public service, crisis communications and stakeholder engagement reflects the values that drive our work. Her leadership will help us elevate awareness of food insecurity while highlighting the impact of our network and partners across Missouri.”
Wichern brings a public service-focused career spanning emergency management, public safety, federal emergency response and health care communications. She holds the Advanced Public Information Officer (APIO) credential and has dedicated her professional career to helping organizations connect people with critical information, resources and support.
Wichern said the opportunity aligns closely with the purpose that has guided her career.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to serve communities through emergency management, public safety, federal response and health care,” said Wichern. “At the heart of each of those roles was a commitment to helping people. That same spirit of service is what drew me to Feeding Missouri.”
“Hunger affects every community in Missouri, and addressing it requires collaboration, awareness and action,” Haun said. “Hannah understands how effective communication can build trust, engage partners and connect people with vital resources. Her experience and passion for service make her an excellent addition to our team.”
